If
you think you know the story of The Princess and the Pea, you may be in for
a surprise! Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, Once Upon a Mattress is a spin
on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance. You'll never look
at fairy tales the same again.

King Sextimus becomes unable to speak due to a curse, his terror of a wife, Queen
Aggravian, takes control of the kingdom. In an attempt to keep Prince Dauntless
single, the Queen has decreed that no one can marry Dauntless unless she can pass
the Queen's test. The Queen has also decreed that one else in the kingdom may
marry until Prince Dauntless does. Lady Larken and Sir Harry are extremely dismayed
by this fact. Luckily, Sir Harry is able to find an amazing princess, Winnifred
the Woebegone. She instantly catches the attention of Prince Dauntless, and in
the end, is able to pass the Queen's test. Nonetheless, the Queen still tries
to prevent the Prince from marrying... |
